Hotel occupancy down in November, but room rates up

Continuing a pattern of recent months, Hawai'i's hotel occupancy fell in November, while the average room rate rose.

The state's hotels were 72.5 percent full in November, down 2.2 percentage points from the same month a year earlier, according to a report from Hospitality Advisers, a tourism industry consulting firm.

Despite the decline, the average daily room rate rose 6.2 percent to $185.67, a new record for the month. Revenue per available a room, a key measure of hotel profitability, rose to $134.59, also a record for November.
