Associated Press

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico — Honolulu's Clay Stanley helped the U.S. volleyball team move within a victory of qualifying for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, leading the Americans past Cuba today in the NORCECA Continental Olympic Qualifying Championship.

Stanley, a Kaiser High and University of Hawai'i alum, had nine kills and three aces in the United States' 25-22, 27-25, 25-18 victory. On Friday in the championship, the Americans will face the winner of a late match Thursday between Puerto Rico and Canada.

Riley Salmon added six kills, a block and an ace, and Sean Rooney had eight kills for the United States. Raydel Corrales led Cuba with 12 kills and two blocks.
