Online tips available for resolutions

By Paula Rath
Advertiser Staff Writer

Let me guess. Your New Year's resolutions — at least one or two of them — have something to do with losing weight, exercising and eating more healthfully. No shame. You're in the vast majority.

Where will you go to seek information and help with these goals? Of course, it's ideal to make an appointment with your personal physician, a certified personal trainer or a registered dietitian, but who has the time or resources to do that? So, chances are you will follow millions, and turn to the Internet for information.

Sure, there's a lot of reliable information in cyberspace. However, there's also a scary amount of hearsay, old wives' tales and misinformation, especially regarding health and wellness. How do you figure out what's solid information and what's safer to ignore?

TopTenREVIEWS is a consumer-oriented Web site that provides free access to expert independent reviews and side-by-side feature comparisons. • Silver Award: www.Diet.com

  • Bronze Award: www.DietWatch.com

    Fitness software:

  • Gold Award: Crosstrainer

  • Silver Award: VidaOne Diet & Fitness

  • Bronze Award: Weightmania

Leslie Meredith, a reviewer for TopTenREVIEWS, said, "Deciding how to lose weight, eat healthfully and become fit can be quite a challenge for many people as they sift through the massive amount of information on what they should do to achieve their goals." She added, "TopTenREVIEWS has made the process easier by doing the research and presenting the information in a comprehensive format so consumers can quickly make smart decisions and focus on getting in shape."

Now if only those online advisers could be there to push that plate away, coach you through those cardio workouts and fill your refrigerator with nutritious food.
