Maui Advisory Council to discuss housing, harbors

WAILUKU – The Governor's Maui Community Advisory Council will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday Jan. 17 at the Cameron Center Auditorium, located at 95 Mahalani St. in Wailuku. The public is invited to attend.

The meeting will include presentations by the following individuals:

iIone Godsey, public housing supervisor for the Hawai'i Public Housing Authority, Maui Asset Management Project, will discuss public housing projects on Maui.

iBrennon Morioka, acting director of transportation, and Michael Formby, deputy director of transportation – harbors, will make a presentation on the Harbors Modernization Plan. The six-year, $842 million system-wide, harbors modernization plan includes $345.1 million for improvements and upgrades to Kahului Harbor.

Gov. Linda Lingle created community advisory councils to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government. The Maui Community Advisory Council holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues on Maui, public priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.

The members of the Governor's Maui Community Advisory Council are: Kathryn Ghean, John Henry, Barbara-Ann Keller, Carl Lindquist, Lori Ululani Sablas, Madge Schaefer (chair), Kalei Sombelon (vice chair), Shan Steinmark, and Gail Takeuchi.
