Kamehameha senior Mykenna Ikehara has made a verbal commitment to play football for the University of Washington next season, according to director Doris Sullivan of Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance.

Ikehara, a 6-foot-3, 275-pound offensive lineman, reportedly chose Washington over Hawai'i, Nevada-Las Vegas, San Diego State and Arizona.

Ikehara was named to The Advertiser's All-State first team this past season.

According to Sullivan, Ikehara never attended a Mainland football camp or clinic. He attended and received top offensive lineman awards at the PIAA Evaluation Camp in May 2007, the Just Win Camp in 2007 on Maui, and Brian Derby Offensive Lineman Camps.

Ikehara told Sullivan that Washington "just felt like a good fit."

Sullivan said Ikehara is a full academic qualifier carrying a 3.9 grade point average.
