American Savings Bank in Ewa robbed

The robbery at 91-1401 Fort Weaver Road was reported to police at 3:17 p.m. No weapon was displayed and there were no injuries, police said.
Today's bank robbery is the fifth this year and the fourth of an American Savings branch. ASB's Waipahu branch at 94-060 Farrington Highway has been hit twice.
The suspect in today's case appears to be the same man who robbed ASB's Waipahu branch Friday based on a surveillance photo released by Honolulu CrimeStoppers.
A demand note was also used by a male suspect in Friday's robbery.
According to CrimeStoppers, the suspect in both cases is about 6 feet tall, weighs 160 pounds, and has long black hair worn in a bun. He wore a black T-shirt in both robberies.

Police have charged suspects in all but two of this year's robberies — today's holdup and Friday's robbery of American Savings in Waipahu.
Ellis Cleveland, also known as Cleveland Ellis, and William Mara III are charged for three 2008 robberies. Ellis, who has been charged with three late December 2007 robberies, is accused of robbing ASB's McCully branch on Jan. 2 while Mara has been charged with two Jan. 3 robberies — Hawaii National Bank in Kalihi and ASB Waipahu.
