WAHIAWA
Library gets $180,000 for new cooling device

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $180,000 to replace the chiller plant at Wahiawa Public Library.

The existing plant is more than 18 years old and frequently caused air-conditioning failures at the library, the governor's office said.

Design for the project is scheduled to be completed in May. Construction is expected to begin in September and be completed in April 2009.

"This project will provide patrons and staff of Wahiawa Public Library with a cool and comfortable environment," Lingle said. "By controlling the temperature inside the library, it will also help to preserve the library's books and other resource materials."
