NFL: Dolphins hire another Cowboys staffer

Associated Press

MIAMI — The Miami Dolphins turned to the Dallas Cowboys to fill another job today, hiring Brian Gaine as assistant director of player personnel.

Gaine spent the past three years as the Cowboys' assistant director of pro scouting. He worked with new Dolphins boss Bill Parcells and new general manager Jeff Ireland when they were with the Cowboys.

Gaine managed pro scouting operations and the evaluation of players and rosters in the NFL and all other professional leagues. His responsibilities also included advance scouting, and he directed the Cowboys' pro scouting database.

He also worked with Parcells in 1999-2000 with the New York Jets.

Cowboys assistant head coach Tony Sparano is the front-runner for the Dolphins' head-coaching job.
