High-surf advisory remains through Wednesday

Advertiser Staff

The high-surf warning has been canceled, but the National Weather Service said a high-surf advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. tomorrow.

Surf heights along northern shores will be lowering to 15 feet to 20 feet overnight and 12 feet to 15 feet today. Surf along west shores will be lowering to 6 feet to 10 feet today.

Eastern shores will see an increase to 8 feet to 12 feet, while south-facing shores will see surf 3 feet or less.

The rising surf along east shores comes as the present northwest swell gradually shifts to a more northerly direction.

A large northwest swell arriving Thursday will produce surf well above the advisory threshold along north- and west-facing shores late Thursday and Friday, the National Weather Service said. The swell will gradually subside Saturday.
