MOUNTAIN VIEW
$495,000 released for library in Upper Puna

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $495,000 for accessibility improvements at Mountain View Public and School Library in Upper Puna.

The money will also cover health and safety improvements at the library, which is located on the Mountain View school campus. The library is one of 13 public libraries on the Big Island.

Project funds will be used for improvements to sidewalks, ramps, restrooms and the parking lot to make the library more accessible for disabled patrons. Improvements to the fire alarm system and emergency lighting will also be made to protect library users and staff.

Construction is scheduled to begin in March and be completed in September.
