Pyramid Rock bodysurfing contest set for Saturday

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAI'I, Kane'ohe Bay — Third Marine Regiment will host the 2nd Annual 3rd Marines Pyramid Rock Bodysurfing Championship with competition surfing starting at 7 a.m. Saturday and continuing on Sunday.

The event is open to the general public. Cost to enter is $20 for active-duty military and $25 for civilians with proceeds benefiting the families of fallen Marines and sailors and the Wounded Warriors of 3rd Marine Regiment.

Competitors from all over the world are expected to plunge into the surf off Pyramid Rock at MCB Hawaii to show their skills in this year's event. Interested bodysurfers can register at the Semper Fit Center or online at www.mccshawaii.com.

An awards ceremony is scheduled 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
