Partly cloudy weather on tap the rest of the week

A high-pressure area north of the state will keep the trade winds down to a moderate level for another day, according to the National Weather Service.

We can expect light showers mainly over windward and mauka areas through tomorrow, forecasters said.

An increase in showers is likely as the weekend approaches due to an upper-lever disturbance moving over the Islands.

Here's a more detailed look at the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. East wind between 11 and 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. East wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Thursday: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind between 11 and 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Thursday night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. East wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Friday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. East wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
