Diamond Head Theatre to revive 'Flower Drum Song'

Advertiser Staff

Diamond Head Theatre is mounting a revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Flower Drum Song," and will hold auditions for the production early next month.

The casting call takes place at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 and 2 p.m. Feb. 2 and 3, at the DHT Rehearsal Hall at 520 Makapu'u Ave.

The production, based on the 2000 revival by David Hwang, will run March 21 through April 21, with Greg Zane directing and choreographing.

The play, written by Chinese-American author C. Y. Lee, explores evolving cultural identities in San Francisco of the 1950s, focusing on Mei-Li, a young woman seeking a new life in America.
