Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i baseball team is picked to finish fourth in the Western Athletic Conference in a preseason poll of the conference's coaches, the WAC announced today.

Fresno State, the only nationally ranked team in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's preseason top 40, is picked to finish first. The Bulldogs received six of seven first-place votes. Louisiana Tech, picked to finish second, had the other first-place vote.

Nevada was third, followed by UH, San Jose State, Sacramento State and New Mexico State.

Pitcher Matt Daly and outfielder Brandon Haislet were the only two Rainbows picked for the preseason All-WAC team.

Fresno State's Stave Susdorf and Clayton Allison were picked as the preseason Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.

The Rainbows open the season Feb. 15 with a three-game season against UH-Hilo at Les Murakami Stadium. The Alumni game is set for Feb. 9.
