Advertiser Staff

Kaua'i police yesterday charged a 33-year-old Kapa'a man with assaulting a New York man following a traffic accident in

Anahola.

Kevin Kaui is accused of assaulting the male visitor, whose rented Ford Mustang was rear-ended by a Jeep Cherokee at 2 p.m. while parked on the shoulder of Kuhi'o Highway, a half-mile from mile marker 15.

Kaui was a passenger in the Cherokee, which flipped over after the collision, police said.

No one was seriously injured.

While in custody, police learned Kauai was wanted on a $1,500 warrant.

Kauai was taken to District Court today on the warrant and assault charge.
