Book-signing event this evening for Don Ho biography

Advertiser Staff

Mayor Mufi Hannemann has proclaimed today "Don Ho Day" to celebrate an evening reception at Don Ho's Island Grill, where Ho's 'ohana will celebrate the publication of "Don Ho: My Music, My Life," a book co-authored by the late entertainer and Jerry Hopkins.

The event features music, from 5 to 6 p.m., and a book-signing by Haumea Hebenstreit Ho, the entertainer's widow, starting at 6 p.m. The reception is invitational; the book-signing is open to the public.

The city proclamation heralds "Hawai'i's beloved icon and Ambassador of Aloha" and commemorates his lifetime achievements and the release by Watermark Publishing of the authorized biography.

Al Waterson will emcee the entertainment, featuring young singers who shared the Waikiki stage with Ho.

Books will be available for sale and signing.
