Wai'anae High School JROTC will host a cultural exchange picnic and adventure challenge competition with 30 Hopi Indian cadets from Keams Canyon, Ariz., on Sunday at Herbert K. Pililaau Army Recreation Center, 85-010 Army St. in Wai'anae.

The purpose of the event is for cadets from two different cultures to share their customs and traditions, such as ethnic food and traditional dances. The cadets will also compete in water crossing, rappelling, rope bridging, kayak racing and tug-o-war events.

The 30 Indian cadets are from Hopi Junior/Senior High School, approximately 300 miles from Phoenix.
