Reggae band Public Property to play Hawaii tour

Public Property, fronted by Hawai'i-born David Bess, will bring its reggae sound to the Islands in a four-week tour on O'ahu, the Big Island and Maui, starting in February.

Besides clubdates, Public Property also will appear at Bob Fest, a reggae event, at Kapolei and in Kailua-Kona.

The seven-piece Iowa-based group features musicians and female singers and even the 'ukulele.

Bess is a 1999 graduate of 'Iolani School, who met band singer Mareva Minerbi, a '99 Mid-Pacific Institute grad, in Italy. Both finished college in Iowa and started up the reggae band there.

O'ahu playdates are:

Feb. 6, 9 p.m. — Boardriders, Kailua. $5; for those 21 and older

Feb. 7, 9 p.m. — Breakers Restaurant, Hale'iwa. $5; 21 and older
