NFL: Titans hire Heimerdinger as offensive coordinator
Associated Press
NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Tennessee Titans have hired Broncos assistant Mike Heimerdinger as offensive coordinator, his second stint with the team after spending the last two seasons in Denver.Heimerdinger, who interviewed with the team today, enjoyed a successful five-year run as the Titans offensive coordinator from 2000-04. He has spent the past two seasons as assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach for the Broncos.
Heimerdinger replaces Norm Chow, a Punahou School alum who was fired Tuesday after a season of struggling to score points, even though Tennessee reached the playoffs for the first time since 2003.
Players and coaches say Heimerdinger could help improve an offense that finished 27th in passing in 2007 and was last in the NFL in touchdown passes and red-zone efficiency.
