Hawaii index tumbles as markets decline

Advertiser Staff

The Bloomberg-Honolulu Advertiser Hawai'i Index tumbled, following broader markets downward over fears the country is edging closer to a recession.

The 11-member stock index dropped 1.52 points to 82.56, as nine issues sank and two gained.

Decliners were led by Bank of Hawaii, which was off $1.49, or 3.3 percent, to $43.60 and Maui Land & Pineapple, which fell $1.10 to $27.68.
