UHH women remain perfect in conference

The Vulcan women keep rolling.

Jamie Mattos scored 19 points to lead three teammates in double figures as Hawai'i-Hilo rallied to beat Notre Dame de Namur, 78-69, last night in a Pacific West Conference game at the Hilo civic on the Big Island.

Sheila Azevedo added 16 points, and Nesha Kimitete and Samantha Nordstrom each had 14 for UHH, which improved to 4-7 overall and improved to 4-0 in the PacWest.

Corazon Riley and Jennifer Dreesen each scored 21 points to lead the Argonauts (1-10, 1-2).

HAWAI'I PACIFIC 78, BYU-HAWAI'I 74

Karras Blate scored 20 points, Ashley Jenkins 19, Angela Spence 16 and Jocelyn Norris 10, helping the visiting Sea Warriors (2-13, 2-4) hold off the Seasiders (2-12, 2-3) at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

HPU led 37-33 at halftime and held off BYUH by making 16 of 18 free throws in the second half.

Richelle Fenenbock scored 20 points, Felisita Ika 15, Amanda Watts 14 and Agnes Tuilevuka 10 for BYUH.

GRAND CANYON 86, CHAMINADE 41

Ashley Hardin scored 21 points, Rosalyn Nelson 17, Sara Dalgiesh 16 and Samantha Murphy 14, leading the Antelopes (9-8, 5-1) past the Silverswords (0-13, 0-5) at McCabe Gym.

Simrin Cummins and Caitlin Prager each scored 11 for Chaminade, which trailed 50-22 at halftime.

PACWEST MEN

CHAMINADE 70, GRAND CANYON 66

LaMarr Hunt scored 15 points to lead four teammates in double figures as the host Silverswords (10-4, 5-0) beat the Antelopes (8-5, 3-3) at McCabe Gym.

Stewart Kussle added 13 points, Hayden Heiber 12, Mike Green 11 and Rodrick Johnson 10 for Chaminade.

Andray Glenn scored 14 points and Rudy Bogan 13 for Grand Canyon.

HAWAI'I-HILO 70, N.D. DE NAMUR 68

John Smith scored 15 points, including a jumper with one second left, lifting the Vulcans (7-4, 3-1) over the Argonauts (4-7, 0-3) at Hilo civic on the Big Island.

Jay De Maestri scored 17 points to lead UHH, which also got 12 points each from Samuel Wilhoite and Jacob Briggs. Dan Bergeron had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Argonauts.

BYU-HAWAI'I 74, HAWAI'I PACIFIC 54

Trenson Akana scored 17 points, Paul Peterson added 16 and Lucas Alves had 14 points and 11 rebounds, powering the host Seasiders (8-4, 3-2) past the Sea Warriors (4-11, 1-5) at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

Jason Curtis scored 10 points for HPU, which trailed, 41-27 at intermission.
