Advertiser Staff
The Hawaii Medical Service Association said it raised health-plan rates by an average of 9.4 percent for large employers renewing their policies in January and is seeking an 8.7 percent increase to take effect for similar groups in March.Hawai'i's largest medical insurer said the rate increase is needed because of rising medical costs. It also is increasing reimbursements to medical providers such as hospitals.
The rates apply mostly to companies with more than 100 employees.
