LA'IE
Cultural center to hold 18th annual hula festival

Advertiser Staff

The Polynesian Cultural Center will host the 18th Annual Moanikeala Hula Festival beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday in its Pacific Theater.

Kicking off its 45th anniversary, the cultural center will focus on the dance of Hawai'i that will be performed by halau from across the island and Japan.

The tribute of song and dance to the host culture of Hawai'i is held in honor of the late Aunty Sally Wood Nalua'i, Polynesian Cultural Center's first hula instructor when it opened in 1963. She held that position until 1980, after which she was a consultant until she died in 2000.

Admission is $8 a person. Kama'aina Annual Passholders are free.
