While the University of Hawai'i Board of Regents is scheduled to take up the settlement of his contract today, ousted athletic director Herman Frazier is scheduled to interview for an opening at the University of Miami.
Frazier is to receive $312,500 to buy out his contract, which was to have run through July 31, 2010, UH officials announced last week. Frazier, who held the UH position for 5 1/2 years, was fired in the wake of head football coach June Jones' departure for Southern Methodist University.
Frazier, 53, was scheduled to arrive in Miami last night and interview for the Hurricanes' opening today, the Miami Herald reported.
Paul Dee, who has been Miami's AD for 15 years, announced last week that he will retire in June.
Frazier's name has also surfaced in connection with the opening for chief executive officer at USA Track. Craig Masback, who held that job for a decade, resigned the day after Frazier's firing to join Nike.
The UH board is also expected to approve the appointment of Carl Clapp as interim athletic director. Clapp, 48, came to UH in 2006 from Saint Mary's College in Moraga, Calif., where he had been athletic director for six years.
In addition, the employment agreement of new head football coach Greg McMackin is on the board's agenda.
