Horse racing: Jockey Corey Nakatani breaks collarbone

Associated Press

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Jockey Corey Nakatani broke his right collarbone today while riding a horse during training at Hollywood Park.

Doctors estimated the 37-year-old rider could miss two to three weeks, said his agent, Craig O'Bryan.

Nakatani was working a filly for trainer Kristin Mulhall when the accident happened, O'Bryan said. Mulhall said the filly broke her right front cannon bone and had to be euthanized.

Nakatani, Santa Anita's leading rider in 1995-96 and 1999-00, had five wins from 54 mounts at Santa Anita's winter meeting through Friday.
