A 22-year-old Wailuku, Maui, man was killed early yesterday morning when he lost control of his 2007 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle and was thrown from the bike after it slammed into a guard rail, Maui police reported.

According to police, the cyclist was headed toward Kahului on Ma'alaea Road around 12:30 a.m. when he lost control, left the roadway and hit the guard rail north of Kapoli Street in Wailuku.

The man sustained fatal injuries when he was thrown from the cycle and died at the scene, police said.
