Ala Wai walk-a-thon benefits school, charity

Advertiser Staff

Ala Wai Elementary School will hold a walk-a-thon today to encourage members of the community to get physically fit in the new year.

The event is from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Money raised will go to promoting health and wellness programs at the school, along with expanding computer and math programs. A portion of the funds will also go to Meals on Wheels.

The walk will be held on Iolani School's quarter-mile track.

Check-in is at the track field, where participants 13 and over can pay a suggested donation of $10. Those 4 to 12 years old would pay $5. Participants are required to wear walking shoes, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Free parking is available at the Iolani School parking structure.

To make a donation call 973-0076.
