Kapolei Parkway reopens following spill

City buses and other vehicles were diverted from Kapolei Parkway at Kalaeloa Boulevard near the Home Depot for just over an hour after a truck spilled a large amount of lumber onto the road at about 8:17 a.m. An hour later, work crews cleaned up the debris.The accident affected cars traveling Honolulu-bound into Kapolei from Campbell Industrial Park since vehicles cannot access Kamokila Boulevard, the main artery through downtown Kapolei, and must instead take a more mauka route.
It is the second time in a month that traffic has been blocked because a large truck has had an accident while trying to make the turn onto Kapolei Parkway from Kalaeloa Boulevard. Last month, a Roll Offs garbage truck tipped over and the road was closed to allow crews to sweep up.
