UH men top Santa Barbara for first win

The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team defeated UC Santa Barbara, 4-3, yesterday at the UH Tennis Complex for its first victory of the season.

The Rainbow Warriors (1-3) won four of six singles matches to clinch the victory.

Hawai'i's Andreas Weber defeated Philip Therp, 6-1, 6-3; Dennis Lajola defeated Bijan Hejazi, 7-6, 6-4; Sascha Heinemann defeated Jack Hui, 6-1, 6-3, and Spence Mendoza defeated Anders Dalskov, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

Meanwhile, the UH women's team fell to No. 72 Washington, 7-0. Senior Chloe Bihag and sophomore Sophie Kobuch defeated Joyce Ardies and Tara Simpson, 8-4, in the only match won by the Rainbow Wahine (0-3).

However, the Huskies took the doubles point by winning the other two matches, and won all six singles matches.

LAM ADVANCES

Honolulu's Chris Lam advanced to the final of qualifying yesterday at the $10,000 Champion Porsche Futures in Boca Raton, Fla. Lam overwhelmed American Joseph Cadogan, 6-1, 6-2.

Lam plays Jarmaine Jenkins today. Jenkins was equally impressive in his semifinal match as he eliminated Devin Britton, 6-1, 6-1.
