Hawaii's Loose Screws in L.A. 'Sketch Showdown'

Advertiser Staff

Loose Screws, Hawai'i's longest-running improv theater company, has been invited to participate in the NBC/Universal "2008 Nationwide Sketch Showdown" on Jan. 29 at the Ivar Theatre in Hollywood.

Five current and former members of the company will be featured in "Screwbuki," their improvised Kabuki play.

A representative from NBC/Universal saw "Screwbuki" when it was featured on the main stage of the 2006 Chicago Improv Festival. Group members Robb Bonnell, Chris Doi, R. Kevin Garcia Doyle, Garrick Paikai and Michael Traylor were invited to represent the group based on the 2006 performance. They will be performing a 10-minute version of "Screwbuki."

Five other acts from across the country will also be featured at the "2008 Nationwide Sketch Showdown."
