CFB: Nebraska's Pelini to earn $1.1M a year for 5 years

By Eric Olson
Associated Press

OMAHA, Neb. — New Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini's contract is for five years at a base salary of $1.1 million annually.

Pelini was hired Dec. 2, and worked out general terms of the contract with athletic director Tom Osborne several weeks ago. But it wasn't signed by all parties until this week.

The contract was made public today.

Osborne said the contract includes built-in incentives for performance.

Former coach Bill Callahan's base salary was $1.75 million, not including $425,000 in bonus incentives.

Osborne said finishing work on the contract was delayed because Pelini coordinated LSU's defense in the BCS championship game, and he has been tied up with recruiting work for Nebraska.
