The Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board will be seeking public comment on several key community issues at its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 29, according to a news release from the board.
Issues board members are seeking public comment on include:
i Developer QRM, LLC's proposal to build up to 181 vacation cabins on Ka Iwi Coast hillside properties that are zoned P-2, General Preservation.
i East Oahu bus route changes that took effect on Dec. 2.
i Hawaii American Water's proposed sewer fee rate increase.
i Public reaction to the city's Curbside Recycling Pilot Program in Hawaii Kai.
The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of Hahaione Elementary School, 595 Pepeekeo St.
"Public input is crucial on matters that affect our community," said Board Chairperson Greg Knudsen. "Testimony presented on these issues will be shared with the appropriate city and state agencies."
On the Ka Iwi hillside development issue, the Board will: (1) review its position from 2006 when it opposed the developer's first proposal to develop the properties known as Mauuwai and Queen's Rise; (2) discuss the developer's proposals as presented to the city Department of Planning & Permitting in September 2007 and to the Board's special meeting on Jan. 8; and, (3) discuss the developer's recent proposition to donate the deed of the 98-acre Queen's Rise parcel to a public entity that would ensure its non-development in exchange for approval to develop the 83-acre Mauuwai parcel.
On the East Oahu Bus Route Changes issue, the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board's Transportation Committee will also meet for another opportunity to gather public testimony on Monday, Feb. 11, from 5:45 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hawaii Kai Public Library, 249 Lunalilo Home Road.
