KAHUKU
Tour park's new terrain with rangers on Tuesday

Advertiser Staff

Rangers at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park will host a program Tuesday called "Kahuku Connections: Linking Science to the Past" to help introduce the community to lands recently acquired by the park.

The program, from 9 a.m. to noon, involves using global positioning system equipment to explore Kahuku. It's a program also being introduced through local high schools.

Participants should be able to hike at least two miles over rough terrain, and will need sturdy shoes, long pants, sunscreen, a hat, water, snacks and a rain jacket.

Pre-registration is required: Call 985-6019 and leave a message that includes a contact phone number and the names of each participant in your group. Participants will meet at the Kahuku gate between mile markers 70 and 71 on Hawai'i Belt Road on Tuesday between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.
