Boise State pounds UH men's basketball team, 95-80

BOISE, Idaho — Senior guard Matt Bauscher scored 21 points and Matt Nelson added 18 points and 12 rebounds tonight to lead Boise State to a 95-80 victory over Hawai'i.

Boise State (14-5, 5-2 Western Athletic Conference) won the game with its long-range shooting, hitting 14 of 22 from 3-point range for 64 percent, while Hawai'i (7-11, 3-3 WAC) connected on just four of nine from beyond the arch.

Hawai'i's Matt Gibson led all scorers with 26 points, while Riley Luettgoerodt scored 14 and Bobby Nash added 13 for the Warriors.

The Broncos broke the game open in the last six minutes of the first half, outscoring the Warriors 23-8 and taking a 47-22 halftime lead.

BSU made 48 percent of all its field goal attempts for the game. The Rainbow Warriors managed to hit only three of their first 16 field goal attempts but shot 44 percent for the game.

The Broncos led by 31 points — 84-53 with 6:16 left in the game — but the Rainbow Warriors went on a 27-11 run to narrow the spread at the end.

Tyler Tiedeman was the only other Bronco in double figures with 17 points.

The Broncos outrebounded Hawai'i 45-27, but turned the ball over 19 times compared with 14 for the Rainbow Warriors.
