Police investigate assault complaint

Honolulu police and University of Hawai'i officials said they are looking into a complaint by a woman that she was sexually assaulted by UH-Manoa athletes last October.

No one has been arrested, police said. HPD spokesman Capt. Frank Fujii said police have opened an investigation.

John McNamara, UH associate athletic director for external affairs, said, "We're aware of the situation and will be meeting with the appropriate parties."



SUSPECT HELD IN ROBBERY, STABBING

A store owner was stabbed in the arm last night during a robbery attempt in Kalihi.

The incident occurred at Corner Market, at 517 N. Vineyard Blvd. near Mayor Wright Homes, shortly after 8 p.m.

Police arrested a 24-year-old man at 8:22 p.m. in a parking lot at 649 N. Vineyard Blvd. on suspicion of second-degree assault.



MAN ARRESTED FOR SOLICITING HITMEN

A grand jury yesterday indicted a 50-year-old Waikiki man on two counts of criminal solicitation to commit murder.

Police yesterday afternoon arrested Anthony Mark Albert, 50, on a $1 million arrest warrant at O'ahu Circuit Court, where he works as a courier. He is not an employee of the court.

According to a court document, Albert allegedly attempted to hire two men between Feb. 1, 2006, and Jan. 31, 2007, to murder the husband of his ex-wife. Albert also allegedly contracted an undercover police officer to kill that man in March 2007. There was no attempt on the man's life.



ARSONIST DAMAGES KAKA'AKO PARK

An arsonist started a fire Monday night that caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a restroom at Kaka'ako Gateway Park, fire department investigators said.

The fire destroyed a men's restroom and storage room, and badly damaged a women's restroom.

Police are investigating the 9:43 p.m. fire as a first-degree arson. The fire was started in a trash can. No one had been arrested as of yesterday.
