An official at the registrar's office at the University of Texas said today Young is enrolled for the spring semester and is currently taking classes as a full-time student. Being a full-time student requires taking at least 12 hours.

Agent Major Adams said Young wants to get his degree and is roughly two semesters short. The plan is for Young to take classes this spring, and again next spring, he said.

"It's one thing he always said he was going to do," Adams said. "Once he left school early he made a promise to his mom he was going to finish school and now he felt like this was the time to go back and do it. ... He's adjusting to being back. But so far it's going well."

Young recently finished his second season with the Titans. He left Texas after his junior season to enter the NFL Draft. In the team's media guide, Young's major is listed as liberal arts.

Young has some company on the Austin, Texas, campus. Titans safety Michael Griffin, who recently finished his first NFL season, is also enrolled and taking classes as a full-time student, according to the registrar's office. Griffin majors in youth and community studies.

The spring semester runs through May 13.

While the NFL and the Titans encourage players to get their degree, his commitment to school will limit Young's presence in the team's offseason workout program, which begins at the end of March.

Young might not miss any of the team's offseason minicamps, however, which are usually held in May and June. Training camp won't start until the end of July. Players also have the capability of watching film on tapes or DVDs away from Baptist Sports Park.

This offseason is a crucial one for Young and the Titans offense. Last week Titans Coach Jeff Fisher fired offensive coordinator Norm Chow and replaced him with Mike Heimerdinger.

Mike Mu, Young's marketing manager, said the quarterback arranged a class schedule with the Titans in mind. According to Mu, Young doesn't have any classes on Fridays, and his first class on Mondays isn't until the evening.

"Say he would have known about (the change) in an offensive coordinator, maybe he wouldn't have (enrolled). But he had already decided," Mu said.
