Cherry Blossom Festival opening events tomorrow

Opening ceremonies for the 56th Cherry Blossom Festival will begin at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Dole Cannery Ballroom, according to an announcement released today by the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce.Richelle Miki Nakata, the reigning Cherry Blossom Festival queen and "Miss Congeniality," along with the 55th Cherry Blossom Festival court, will be at the event, which kicks off several cultural events, fairs and appearances.
Upcoming events include public appearances at local shopping malls, a fashion show, golf tournament and heritage fair. Festivities conclude with the Cherry Blossom Festival Ball, which will be held March 21st at the Sheraton Waikiki.
