TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Garth Brooks: Live in L.A.," 7 p.m., CBS. Emerging from semi-retirement, Garth Brooks is doing five Los Angeles concerts, as a fundraiser for fire victims. This is a version created for CBS. It will be live in the East and Central zones, tape-delayed in the West.

"Gone Country" debut, 4 p.m., MTV2/KHON digital 595. Here's one of the best reality ideas lately: John Rich (an ace songwriter and half of Big & Rich) shows seven disparate souls how to be country. Diana DeGarmo (the "American Idol" runner-up) and Maureen McCormick ("Brady Bunch") are already close to being country. Others aren't. There's Dee Snider of Twisted Sister and Carnie Wilson of Wilson Phillips. There's Sisqo and Julio Iglesias Jr. and (really) Bobby Brown. Snider promptly insults country. McCormick, by comparison, has instant friends. Sisqo says his neighborhood loved the Bradys, too. One songwriter tells her he's "wanted you since I was 8."

OF NOTE

"Bones," 7:30 p.m., Fox. In a rerun, an ambassador's son is found dead at an exclusive private school. The probe soon turns up dark secrets.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. A college student seems to have been literally frozen with fear.

"Grey's Anatomy" (7 p.m.) and "Desperate Housewives" (8:02 p.m.), ABC. In the first rerun, there are wrenching moments as George confesses his affair to his wife. In the second, Bree tells what she overheard at Katherine's house.

"Minutemen," 8 p.m., Disney Channel. This movie requires some patience. It starts badly, with lots of lame teen cliches. Once the kids build a time-travel machine, however, it gets much better. Jason Dolley ("Cory in the House") stars; Steven R. McQueen, grandson of the late Steve McQueen, plays Derek.

"House," 8:30 p.m., Fox. Here's a rerun of one of the most complex episodes. Dr. House must diagnose a dead woman, before using her heart for a much-needed transplant.

"Friday Night Lights," 8 p.m., NBC. Now there are two Coach Taylors; the football coach hires his wife to coach volleyball. Meanwhile, Street has a new job and Smash faces a decision after his movie-theater confrontation.

"Monk," 9 p.m., USA Network. A killer has strictly been striking women named Julie. This displeases Natalie, whose daughter is named Julie.

"Las Vegas," 9 p.m., NBC. Sam wants to remove any signs that her big-spenders visited a strip club. Meanwhile, Mike and Piper try to recruit a hot bartender.

"Psych," 10 p.m., USA Network. Here's one of the show's loopiest twists: There's been a murder on the set of a Spanish soap opera. Now, apparently, Shawn must join the show.
