Policeman assaulted in arrest near Waianae drug house

A Honolulu police officer suffered a gash to the head when he was assaulted by a man he had arrested, police said today.The officer, who was not named, was treated at a hospital and released after the assault on Friday, police said.
A 44-year-old Wai'anae man was being held on possible charge of assaulting a police officer.
Police said the trouble began when several officers arrested two men near a known drug house in Wai'anae.
As police were preparing to take the handcuffed men to jail, one of them became verbally abusive, jumped up and rushed the officer, knocking his head.
