Whopper surf expected along east-facing shores

A high surf advisory is in effect for all east-facing shores of O'ahu which are expected to see surf of 8 to 12 feet today, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong trade winds, combined with a long period northeast swell, will keep surf above advisory levels along east-facing shores for the next couple of days, forecasters said. Surf along east-facing shores is expected to be be near warning heights by tomorrow, they said.

Meanwhile, a northwest swell will likely boost surf heights to near the advisory threshold of 15 feet along the north -facing shores on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, surf along north-facing shores will rise to heights of 3 to 5 feet today; surf along west-facing shores will increase to 2 to 4 feet ; and surf along south-facing shores will remain 1 to 2 feet.
