Kamehameha, Roosevelt top seeds in girls state soccer

Kamehameha and Roosevelt earned the top seeds for this week's Hawai'i High School Athletic Association girls state soccer championships.

Kamehameha, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion and two-time defending state champion, is seeded first in Division I and opens play on Thursday against the winner of the Kaiser-Kapolei match. Pearl City, the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red champion, is second. Kamehameha-Maui, the Maui Interscholastic League champion, is third and Big Island Interscholastic Federation winner Konawaena is fourth.

Roosevelt, the OIA White champion, is the top seed in Division II. Kamehameha-Hawai'i, the BIIF champion, is seeded second, followed by Kapa'a, the Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation champion, and St. Anthony, the MIL winner.

Pac-Five won last year's first Division II state championship. Also on Tuesday, there will be a Division II play-in game between Kaua'i and Seabury Hall, the runner-ups from their respective leagues. The winner advances to the state tournament.

First-round games begin on Wednesday at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Park & Stadium. The championship games are on Saturday.
