Warriors land receiver, 2 cornerbacks from JC ranks

The University of Hawai'i football team, which lost both starting cornerbacks and all four starters at the receiver position from last year's team, addressed those areas today with verbal commitments from three junior-college players.

The three are Mike Tinoco, 6-foot-2 1/2, 200-pound wideout from Saddleback Community College; Chris Black, a 5-11, 170-pound corner from College of the Canyons, and Jeramy Bryant, 5-10, 178-pound corner from Los Angeles Harbor College.

"I verbaled today," Tinoco told The Advertiser. "I love the offense. The coaching staff is great."

"Yes, sir, I'm going to be a Warrior," Black said. "There are great people here."

The Warriors lost senior cornerbacks Gerard Lewis and Myron Newberry as well as senior receivers Jason Rivers and C.J. Hawthorne. Junior wideouts Ryan Grice-Mullins and Davone Bess declared for the NFL draft.
