Waianae man charged with assaulting police officer

Advertiser Staff

A 44-year-old Wai'anae man whose criminal record includes 32 prior convictions has been charged by prosecutors with allegedly assaulting a police officer during an arrest early Friday on Pokai Bay Street.

Robin Wayne Saragosa charged with first-degree assault on a police officer and misdemeanor second-degree terroristic threatening is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail pending his initial appearance tomorrow at District Court. Saragosa also has two outstanding misdemeanor contempt warrants totaling $575.

Police investigating a complaint of three vehicles parked near a suspected drug house arrested Saragosa and another person on outstanding warrants at 12:32 a.m.

Saragosa allegedly threatened harm to the arresting officer and his family while awaiting transport to the Wai'anae police station, police said. He allegedly leaned into the officer's face, causing lacerations above the right eye, and again threatened harm to the officer and his family.

The officer was treated for injuries and released.
