Attempted-murder suspect arrested in Waipahu

Advertiser Staff

Police tonight arrested a 20-year-old man at his Waipahu residence on suspicion that he twice drove a pickup truck at another man in Wahiawa.

The suspect was arrested at a Waipahu Depot Road address at 7:55 p.m. on vehicle information provided by witnesses, police said.

According to witnesses, the suspect allegedly drove a 1991 Toyota pickup truck in a hazardous manner from a parked position fronting 31 Cypress Ave. and nearly struck a pedestrian at 6 p.m.

A 47-year-old Cypress Avenue male resident confronted the driver, who allegedly drove toward the man once, reversed the truck and drove at him again, witnesses told police.

The suspect drove off but was identified from information provided by witness.

The man arrested was booked for investigation of attempted second-degree murder. The alleged victim was not injured.
