Hawaii tech firms to make pitch to investors

Advertiser Staff

Two Hawai'i technology companies will be among the firms making pitches for more venture capital at an investor's conference in Utah next month.

The 24th annual Investors Choice Venture Capital Conference in Midway, Utah, features presentations from information technology, life sciences and clean-tech companies based in Utah, Hawai'i and other states. In 2006 about half of the presenting companies raised capital.

The Hawai'i companies presenting during the Feb. 6 and 7 conference in Midway include ACI and Blue Lava Technologies.

ACI will present during a portion of the conference where later-stage companies with $1 million or more in annual sales will discuss its business. The company's Immersive Group Simulation product combines realistic computer game effects with advanced 3D virtual reality technology for defense, law enforcement and first-responder training, Investors Choice said on its Web site.

Blue Lava is among the "early stage" companies that have less than $1 million in annual sales. The company's iLovePhotos helps users share photos with people in each picture and can create side shows out of photos.

Among previous presenters at the conference is Hoku Scientific Inc., a Kapolei company that has since gone public with a sale of shares that are now traded on the Nasdaq exchange.
