Hawaiian Islands under high-wind advisory

Advertiser Staff

Most of the Hawaiian Islands have been put under a high-wind advisory until 10 p.m. today by the National Weather Service.

Winds will reach speeds of 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, the National Weather Service said. The strongest winds can be expected where the winds blow over ridges, through valleys and and where they accelerate downslope on the southwest side of the mountains.

For now, the strong winds are not expected to affect higher elevations on Maui and the Big Island.
