NFL: Pro Bowl golf event to benefit youth education

Advertiser Staff

Current and former NFL players will join forces with amateur golfers to raise money for the NFL Youth Education Town initiative at the Pro Bowl Invitational Celebrity Golf Classic Feb. 8.

The event starts 1 p.m. at Waialae Country Club.

Expected to participate are Hall of Fame players Lem Barney, Harry Carson, Ted Hendricks, James Lofton, Jim Taylor, Lawrence Taylor and Kellen Winslow.

Each participant will receive a gift bag of official Pro Bowl apparel from Reebok as well as a commemorative photograph of their team with its celebrity captain. The entry fee is a $1,200 donation to NFL Charities.

Proceeds from the event will support the NFL YET Center initiative, which serves as a haven for at-risk youth, offering counseling, educational mentoring and recreational programs in each Super Bowl host city. An NFL YET Center is being built in Honolulu in the coming year.

Interested parties should contact tournament director Nick Nicolosi at 201-489-0049 or n.nicolosi@verizon.net.
