Olelo to air Dennis Kucinich's fall forums in Hawaii

A TV series featuring U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, will begin on Olelo Channel 54 this Sunday.

Kucinich's Sept. 15, 2007, presentation "Strength through Peace," given at Kaimuki High School, can be seen at 10 a.m. Sunday on Channel 54.

Kucinich discusses diplomacy and statesmanship as the path to strong international leadership. He also talks about peace and his plan for withdrawal from Iraq. Appearing with Rep. Kucinich are Hawai'i Democratic Party chair Mike McCartney; local storyteller Jeff Gere; songwriter and singer Keith and Carmen Haugen; dancer Adela Chu and other talent.

The hour-long presentation will be aired again at 10 a.m. Feb. 17 on Channel 54.

Another presentation, "Universal Health Care Forum," will air at 10 a.m. Feb. 10 on Channel 54. The forum took place Sept. 15 at the University of Hawai'i Architecture Auditorium.

Speakers were Kucinich; healthcare advocate Ah Quon McElrath; Fred Dodge, longtime community doctor on the Wai'anae Coast; and State Rep. John Mizuno, vice chair of the State House Health Committee.

During the presentation Kucinich discusses his plan for not-for-profit universal healthcare.
