NBA: Grizzlies suspend Swift for detrimental conduct

Associated Press

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies suspended forward Stromile Swift for tomorrow night's game against the Denver Nuggets for conduct detrimental to the team.

Swift started serving the suspension Tuesday by sitting out practice as punishment for apparently disagreeing with Grizzlies coach Marc Iavaroni during Monday night's 103-84 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

The Commercial Appeal newspaper reported that Swift stood and leaned over the coach before walking to the end of the bench. He played 1 minute, 45 seconds during the loss, hit his only shot but picked up a foul and had a turnover.

The eight-year veteran had been on the injury report as day to day with a sore left ankle that kept him out of the previous two games but had eight points in 16 minutes on Jan. 23 against Orlando.
