WAI'ANAE
Wai'anae Health gets $2.4M Weinberg grant

Advertiser Staff

The Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center has received a $2.43 million grant from the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.

The gift will go toward construction of a three-story medical building, which will be named the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Family Medical Building.

Foundation members will present the check at a ceremony at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Ni'ihau Room of the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

Established in 1972, the health center provides services to the uninsured and needy children and families in Leeward and Central O'ahu.

All direct services will be provided in one location. Primary-care physicians, dieticians, Native Hawaiian healers, psychologists and others who provide healthcare services will go to the patients' rooms instead of having the patients move from one department to another.

The project broke ground last Aug. 1 and is scheduled for completion this summer. The general contractor is Nan Inc.
